toire wa doko desu ka? (where's the bathroom?)

Japan has a lot of cutesy, whimsical branding. You see it a lot in their packaging, in some of the souvenirs they have, or in random everyday items. It's one of the things I was looking forward to see when I lived there for a semester abroad during business school. It's hard to miss, and I find it very charming. In the spa environment, I wanted to create a small homage to that type of quirkiness by designing some aikido themed bathroom signs. It's hardly noticeable but it's basically the normal signs you'd see in Japan but now with the hakama (black skirts used in aikido). I don't know, it's a little dorky. Pay no attention to the flooring in this picture, I still need to clean that up.
